Worship Ministry

Thank you for visiting the Worship Ministry page of Hill Crest Baptist Church. At Hill Crest, we seek a biblical approach to worship, making sure the music and worship is biblically sound and scriptural. Music indoctrinates people. Paul says in Colossians 3:16, "teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs." Paul is encouraging music in a corporate setting because it teaches and admonishes. It drives home a message like no other form of communication. In this verse, Paul urges us to place great importance on the message of the psalm, hymn, or spiritual song. At Hill Crest, we love a singing congregation! We believe that a church service should include a large amount of audience participation and it is not a spectator activity. The purpose of this time is to "set our minds on things above." We accomplish this through various styles of music. Earlier we quoted Paul from Colossians 3:16. In that verse Paul uses the terms "psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs". These terms covered a variety of different types of music used in public and private worship. Paul's point seems to be that it is in a variety of different ways we give God praise. Paul was aware of these different styles of music and encouraged the church to build one another up through the use of them. As a result, our music service at Hill Crest is “contemporary blended" in style. We have music ranging anywhere from the contemporary artists to contemporary hymns. Our music services are led by our Worship Choir, Worship Orchestra, and Praise Team . Instrumentally we are diverse. We use everything from a flute and trombone to drum set and electric guitar in our orchestra.
